Background
Kakashi was born as a half-blood. His father was a powerful Auror, and his Mum was a gentle Muggle. His mother died shortly after giving birth to Kakashi, thus he was raised by his father alone.

As the son of a rather well-known auror, he was the target of a rather nasty attack by a dark wizard. He tried to fight back, but since he was still rather young, he couldn't really do a damn thing. The wizard had cursed him, leaving a rather nasty scar that runs along the middle of his eyelid, and extends well above and below it, as well as the fact that his eye had turned into a rather different and unnatural color, while the mark of the dark curse was visible on the iris.

His father was an auror working for the ministry, until he was caught up in a situation where he risked either his comrades, or the success of the mission they were in. He chose to save his comrades, but since the success of the mission got compromised, and thus failed in the end, Kakashi's father was seen in a rather negative light. Kakashi's father, in turn, got rather depressed... This happened when Kakashi was seven years old. Since then, Kakashi had a somewhat low opinion of his father, though didn't say much about it.

A year later, Kakashi's father got excessively depressed, to the point of commiting suicide. At which point, Social services were called in, and put Kakashi in an Anglican Orphanage in London.

Of course, since he had magical abilities, it wasn't that much of a surprise when Kakashi received his letter to go to Hogwarts. He got a visit from the kind headmaster, and was given some help [to find the key to his father's Gringott's account], and then was set up and ready to go.

For his first couple of years, Kakashi did remarkably well, despite the fact he seemed to slack off a bit and not pay attention to the classes themselves. Though in those years, he usually kept to himself and didn't make an effort to make many friends. Just a couple here or there.

Now that he's going into his sixth year, [AND after surviving the hell of OWLs], he's planning to just coast through it, and if he makes friends, then that's all good and well.

Oh, and for some reason, Upperclassman Gai considers him an eternal rival. Kakashi doesn't really care much about this so-called rivalry, but he keeps up the façade to humor Gai. Then again, it's also probably for his own amusement: he likes to see Gai rather ticked when Kakashi beats him in rather simple "challenges".

Relationships

Gai: He met Gai when he was a 2nd year, Gai a 4th year. After leading the older student through the many halls of Hogwarts, he had casually forgotten to mention that the main set of stairs liked to move about. It's basically from there where Gai thought that Kakashi was his sworn eternal rival. Although Kakashi doesn't really care for said rivalry, he humors Gai when he challenges him to do crazy stunts to see who's better. Naturally, Kakashi chooses simple things [rock, paper, scissors being his favorite] probably just to spite Gai.

Rinali: They basically met through their journals during the summer holidays. Rinali knew what it's like to be an orphan in a church [Like Kakashi], so they basically bonded over that. She offered him a place to stay, and Kakashi accepted.
Recently, she has been forcibly betrothed to Rock Lee, which... was rather hard on him. [Though that doesn't stop him from loving her any less.]

Sakura: A girl whom he's known for 6 years already. They're in the same house, same year, and what's more, they've been good friends for a long while. She will sometimes begrudgingly pass him some notes, though he would do the same if she doesn't get a particular thing in any subject that they take together.

Neji: Though they don't talk much, they have one thing in common: They're both the rivals of a "Beast". For Kakashi, it's Gai. For Neji, it's Lee. Kakashi respects Neji, and knows/shares the pains of being a 'rival'. That, and he's Rinali's "Mama-kun".


Yusuke: A first year that was sorted into Gryffindor. Kakashi didn't really know why, but he tried to more or less look out for Yusuke, even IF the first year proved to be a rebellious handful. He tried to talk sense into him, but, in the end, he had his fight with Grimmjow Jaggerjack, though it was rather obvious who actually won. He's only recently come back from what seems to be a suspension of sorts, though this proves to be somewhat interesting as the kid seems to be louder than before.

Obito: They've been friends since they started school, though Kakashi sort of tends to be emotionally distant. It doesn't mean he doesn't care for him, it's just that that's how he's always been around Obito. He really wishes his friend to be well and happy and all, but he really doesn't show his feelings outright. [Dropped]

Lavi: A redheaded guy in Gryffindor that somehow came to call Kakashi "Scarfy". Kakashi, in turn, came to call him "Patches", due to Lavi's eyepatch. They both have a fondness for scarves, and Kakashi thinks Lavi to be a fun, outgoing sort of guy. He'll come to learn more about him as time goes on, though.[Dropped]
